The 120 mm smoke mortar round LONG RANGE is intended for marking objects, targets, creating  smoke screen for masking the operation of friendly units, to facilitate the tactical deployment of friendly troops and evasion of enemy fire. The smoke screen generated by the smoke projectile is also intended to suppress enemy surveillance and reconnaissance means, as well as to prevent aimed enemy fire. In addition to the smoke effect it also has incendiary action.

The variable propelling charge makes it possible to achieve several muzzle velocity values.
